Cryolipolysis (Coolsculpting)
(Back to treatments)REDUCING FAT

Obesity is a condition caused by accumulation of fat in the body, especially triglycerides. Usually excessive intake of food or changes in body metabolism lead to excessive accumulation of fat in the body, resulting in excessive weight gain, and lead to changes in human pathophysiology.
Studies have shown that subcutaneous lipid rich cells (fats) can be selectively affected by cooling subcutaneous tissue to temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Lipid rich cells can be affected by rupture, contraction, damage, destruction, removal or other changes.
What is cryolipolysis or coolsculpting?
Cryolipolysis or coolsculpting is noninvasive fat-frozen technology targets to eliminate the fat cells, transforming triglycerides under conditions of low temperature. Fat cells are crystallized after being frozen and are successfully eliminated through body’s metabolic process. Fat layers gradually become thinner without damaging other tissue.
Therefore, coolsculpting or cryolipolysis is not the treatment primarily for weight loss.
First of all, it is a treatment for reducing fat and it is long-term, a successful replacement for liposuction. However, this does not mean that the accumulated fat cells will not reappear if the routine of healthy eating habits and regular exercise or some other form of physical activity is neglected.
Whom is the treatment intended?
This treatment is not only for people who are overweight, but also for people who have ideal body weight and have fat deposits.
It is effective for women and men with healthy eating habits and active lifestyle, a very safe and effective way to reduce excess fat without the need for liposuction.
The treatment is recommended for people who are ideal body weight or overweight in the following areas: abdomen, hips, upper back, inner and outer thighs, knees, and fat under the bottom.
The most common occurrence is the deposition of fat in the waist or around the abdomen, but also on the thighs, knees and back.
Sometimes it is difficult to reduce fat even if the diet is healthy and despite regular exercise. In such cases, coolsculpting or cryolipolysis treatment is recommended to encourage fat cells breakdown.
Treatment procedure
A special antifreeze membrane or special gel is placed on the treated area to protect the body from freezing.
Lipolysis is enhanced through local exposure to cold, and is optimal about -10 degrees Celsius to about 0 degrees Celsius.
At the very beginning of the treatment it is possible to feel annoying phenomena such as cold, tingling and pain on the treated area. After few minutes, these phenomena disappear. After completion, the treated area is lightly massaged.
How many treatments are nesecessary?
The number of treatments is individual, 3-4 treatments every 2-3 weeks.
Cryolipolysis can be combined with cavitation or multipolar radiofrequency.
After one treatment a long-term reduction in fat cells is 27%, with the first results visible in three weeks. Within a period of three months, the body eliminates dead cells naturally and during this period the final results are visible.
In order to maintain the effect of the treatment, it is recommended to keep an eye on eating and healthy habits such as exercising regularly or other activites in nature, and especially avoiding sugar.
Post-treatment side effects
It is usually temporary redness, but swelling, burning sensation, skin sensitivity, bruising and tightness are also possible. All these side effects are temporary and usually disappear within a few days.
